08,Jul,08 ITC Advisory
The IVLE server encountered a hard disk problem last July 5, 2008 at 4:15 pm and we were not able to retrieve the current data and recent backups from the failed hardware device. We were able to fix the problem on July 6, 2008 at 1:00 pm but the date of the latest backup that can be restored successfully is June 26, 2008. This means that all data transactions from June 27 to July 6, 2008 were lost. We are looking into improving our disaster recovery strategy so that unfortunate events like this can be avoided in the future. We're very sorry for the inconvenience."

30,May,04 For Teachers - Workbin Guidelines

Below are some guidelines on how to use the Workbin effectively:

  • Be considerate when uploading large files (3MB or higher) into the Lecture Notes or Assignment folder. Sometimes, files become corrupted especially when it is uploaded/downloaded via dial-up access.
  • Break large files into smaller and more manageable chunks. Give students instructions on how to put back the files together.
  • Compress files by using WinZip.
  • Document files with images should be converted to .pdf in order to make the files smaller. If you need assistance on how to do this, you can ask help from CREM c/o Melany V. Guatno or Jessica E. Camba (5244611 ext. 563)
